TR4/4A TR4A top left over part identification help needed

Hi folks,

I have finished installing the soft top on my TR4A (or have I?). I did not have an old top to look at when doing this which may explein my question. When I was all done with the instalation (and the top seems to be just fine) I had thses parts left over from the soft top kit (see attached picture). Can anyone tell me what they are and where they go?

The four items across the top are identical to each other as are the four across the middle. It is obvious that they fit inside each other (but I don't know if that is where they are meant to go that way).

I appreciate any help you good folks can provide.

Adrio, those wire loops hook into little "hooks" near the top of the windshield post, possibly somewhat hidden by the weatherstripping. I'm guessing the little buttons are used to fasten the wire loops to the top. Sorry I don't have a better picture or description, but maybe someone with a TR4A can snap a picture for you.

Thanks for that. I thought that was where they hooked to the car. I can't figure out if and where they attact to the top. The little buttons don't seem to have a snap together feature like the dome fasteners and lift a dot that I put on the rest of the top.

I hope someone can snap a picture for me to see what I have missed.

Yes, TR4s had a little hook on the windscreen pillar and, for what its worth, those are 4 pairs of rivets... the 2 halves get smashed together.

If you decide to get rid of them... you could throw then my way.

They are also used to secure the soft insert on all surrey tops.
