TR4/4A TR4A Steering Wheel

I just installed a new Moto-Lita Steering wheel with a Springalex Boss. I am getting about 1/8 to 1/4 inch telescoping in the wheel now. Did I miss pulling something out or putting something in.

As I recall, there is a spacer / washer just behind the connection with the Allen head set screw which, if omitted, will introduce some slop.

I'll look for a pic.

Right about here I think...

You might watch that spot as someone works the steering wheel out & in -- see if that is where the gap is.

Are you sure you didn't have the play before you replaced the wheel? On a TR4, the lower donut mount by the steering rack is prone to slipping and can cause the telescoping you are seeing.

If there was no play before the change, you may need a washer between the thin nut that secures the wheel hub and the new hub. The nut bottoms out on the thread before it makes contact with the hub. I had this problem when installing a moto lita wheel a few years ago when the correct hubs were not available at the time...I have since purchased the correct hub and did not need the washer as a spacer.
