TR4/4A TR4A Stainless Trim Installation

Its time to install the stainless side trim on our TR4A and would like to know if there are any tips or special ways to attach it without scratching the paint. Looks like the trim goes on first then the side maker lights. Only want to do this once! Thanks

Sorry, I don't recall any tricks to reinstalling it other than trying to gently press it onto the snaps. The front trim does go under the side marker assembly so yes you would want to attach it first.

I do recall being nervous doing it. Hopefully someone who has done it more recently can offer some words of wisdom.

I remember cutting some old cerial boxes and attaching them to the car with masking tape so that if anything slipped it would hit the cardboard and not the paint. that saved me once when I was riveting those things in. It was a long time ago and I can't rmember what I was riveting, but I do remember the rivet gun bounce.

Amen to Rivit Gun bounce. Repainted a door because of it. Not happy.

Our rivet gun bounced on the first rivet and we got a nick in the paint but thankfully it will be under the trim. For the rest of them we covered the area with a rag and pulled the rivet gun away from the body as the rivet popped. Worked great. Now we're trying to attach the trim without scratches! Learn as you go.....

Here's what we're going to try for the door trim. We cut some pieces from a welding rod then used some epoxy paste and here's what we ended up with. A few adjustments with a speed nut helped secure the trim. It appears to be a strong bond so we'll see........
