TR4/4A TR4A - rear wheel steering. Whoa!

Hi folks - new member here.

I just brought my new to me TR4A home last night and every time I left of the gas she'd pitch pretty noticeably and I'd have to make a major steering correction.

She needs new tie rod ends etc, but the reaction from the back of the car is new to me. (I have a Spit 1500 and MGB's)

Any ideas here? Thanks!

If it's an independant rear it's likley that you have worn swing arm bushings. What happens is, the arm shifts when the power is applied, and shifts back when it's let off.
If it's a solid axel, then something is loose or broken, like a spring shackle or "u"bolts
Worst case in either version is a rotten frame at the suspension mounting points. Those frames are prone to getting "soft" right where the outer swing arm brackets are bolted through the frame rail. (on a solid axel the front spring mounts use the same holes as the outer swing arm brackets)

I'm with Banjo if indeed your car has IRS.
My TR6 was all over the road under the same conditions you describe. It was even worse coming out of a turn and applying power!.
I replaced the rear swing arm bushings and the car behaves and drives very well!
