TR4/4A tr4a question

I have a 1965 triumph tr4a irs commision #ctc56683. The speedo is in Kilometers only, it is a left hand drive car. Does anyone know if some of them were produced just for Canada, or is it possible my car came from over seas somewhere?

More likely it was produced for sale somewhere in Continental Europe. It's also possible it was first purchased by a US Serviceman who later brought it back to the US, or it could have been purchased by anyone on the European Delivery plan and then brought to the US.

Welcome, indeed!

I agree, though it was easier to postulate that on TR3s where the temp gauge would be in Celsius for the continental cars.

Starting with the TR4s, US cars also has Celsius temp gauges so the speedo is possibly your only clue at this point.

Yes, agree as well - they are pretty hard to find and sought after by the TR folks in Europe as well as it helps get through the registration/inspection process.

FYI, starting roughly April 1965, TR4A's used a BT2203/03 which only had C and H indicators.

I didn't know that. My 1966 has a gauge marked in Celsius, and even though I got the car in 81, I supposed it could have been replaced.

Darrell,

The SPC gives the change over at CTC62637 so if it's accurate then I'd say yours was changed. The date came from several catalogs that I've seen (including Nisongers) but given the commission number from the SPC I think that's early and it might have been later in 1965.
