TR4/4A Tr4a, new horn brush is too long

Just bought a new horn brush but it is 2.5 in. overall lenght, or about 3/8 in longer than my old one ..too long for the horn button to fit back in. Moss says noone has complained before but will investigate. Does anyone know what could be wrong or what is the correct horn brush dimension ? No, I have not torn down the steering colummn. Thanks.
 
Not sure what is going on there - BPNorthwest also lists 2.6" as the length for the for the 4A.
