TR4/4A TR4A Dashboard question

Redoing a TR4A. Do the two indictor lights mount to the metal dash with the wood dashboard in front of the chrome attachment rings or do the rigs go through the wood dash to the indicator light housings?

Thanks.

Corey

It can be either way, depending upon whether you have an after-market dash.

To go through the front, the dash must be made with that in mind up front. Randy Keller in Palo Alto made my new dash, with the chrome pieces going thru the front. My recollection is that I then had to grind the holes in the steel dash larger so the green and red housings butted up to the wood.

I have another TR where the bezels are behind the wood.

I think that sometimes when people make their own wood dashes they put the lights in the wood because it is hard to hit the precise spot that lets those 2 lights peek thru. Anyway, that's what someone told me about the dash they made.

My Tr4a chrome/lense pieces are mounted through the wooden dashboard , thus they must be removed before removing dashboard. My dash is not the original, it was replaced many years ago.
