TR4/4A TR4A clutch slave cylinder adjustment

Someone (probably Randall) mentioned that the TR4A dropped the return spring on the clutch slave cylinder that the previous TRs had. A while back I added a return spring, thinking it (like many parts) was just missing.

So I'm planning to remove the spring, but I can't find in the shop manual any adjustment instructions specific to the TR4A. So what is the procedure to adjust the slave? As I understand it, the spring in the slave is supposed to keep a little pressure to keep the throwout bearing agains the pressure plate?
 
Right. Without the return spring (and with the internal spring), the clutch becomes self-adjusting. The slave piston just rides out as far as necessary to take up all the freeplay. The throwout bearing runs all the time, but at least in theory that does not shorten it's life.

So I believe you just set the pushrod as short as it will go (so the tip of the rod doesn't quite touch the lever directly) and leave it at that. You might have to pump the pedal once or twice to get good clutch action (much like the brake pedal after installing new pads).
