TR4/4A TR4A Battery Box

Howdy, All - New member here, bought a '65 TR4A a month ago and am getting started on a driver restoration. Anyone know where to get a new battery box or shelf? Mine is about rusted through. I'd weld in some plain sheet steel, but would rather have it look original. Thanks. -Glenn.

Both Moss UK and TRF list a battery tray. From what I saw on their websites it was only the bit underneath the battery plus a few millimetres up the side and down the bottom.
You should probably call them to ascertain what its actual shape is and stock
.
Part no.: CAR2 at TRF.

Hi Glenn- welcome to the forum - consider joining the Red River Triumph club if you haven't done so already. Good group up there.

I'd recommend stripping that area down first and see what you have first. Many of those panels are common to the TR6 as well. If the area is sound for the most part I'd consider patching if I were you - with the battery in place you can make a very good repair that will last and will also not be seen.

Welcome Glenn! Happy to see another TR4A get a new lease on life.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll call TRF to see what they have. I'd consider patching, but I can see enough light through the metal that I know it would be difficult. I am acquainted with the Red River club web site, may go to a meeting soon if I'm not too busy working on the car! -Glenn.
