Did TR4s come with radios installed? And if not, how hard would it be to add a combo CD/tape/radio unit in it's slot, with speakers somewhere in the car (where would they go?)
You can put in a modern stereo, and mount it in many different places. The speakers are best mounted in a box on the package shelf, so you don't have to cut any panels.
You'll have to make sure any British car that started as positive ground is converted to negative ground for modern stereo components. This is a very, very easy thing to do.
I tried the speaker-in-the-back route and found that I couldn't hear the darn things because of the racket from my rauchous exhausts (TR6). Went back to the speakers in the kidney pads on either side of the tunnel, got better sound, then pulled the whole thing out, plugged the hole with a blanking plate and now listen to the music of my modified tractor engine.

I did the same with my GT6, pulled out the non-functional radio, put in the blanking plate & now I enjoy that Triumphant six-cylinder symphony!

I rarely if ever have my radio on in any of my cars. Actually only 2 have radios BUT I love the car sounds. Doesn't answer the question of "how to" but seriously consider none at all. It is a nice experience getting away from the media and/or whatever for awhile.
4's did come with AM radios and I do have a positive ground type AM radio if you are looking for realism. Of course with only one speaker originally mounted up under the dash it really could not be heard much and so I enjoy my 4A without any sound but the car itself and the passing conversation with someone next to you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF
The first thing I did was pull the radio, (some nasty old cassette player)and installed a plate.
I find it quite neccesary to be able to hear every noise ole' Ruby makes, but that's just music to my ears.
