TR4/4A TR4 Wiper Arm Remval

Okay, I'm stumped. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the wiper arms off of my TR4. I've searched all over for info, and actually have a spare arm off the car that I can examine. There appears to be a small latch in it that can be pulled back. I believe the arms on the car also have this latch and I've managed to pull it back with a small screwdriver, but that didn't do the trick. I have tried to pry the arms off with a large screwdriver just under the base, and that did move them up about 1/8 of an inch, where they hard stop.

My arms do not lock up in a service position (which has always been annoying). I've seen references to put them in that position prior to removal.

Ay help/advice is appreciated.

Well you have the trick it is the little locking clip at the base of the arm. It may need a little wiggle and pull at the same time if they have been on a long time try a shot of WD 40 over night and lite film of grease when you reset.
I just took mine off a few min ago to remember how it comes off, with a small tipped screw driver and I lubed same with minor adj. ( TR 6 1973 ) The clip is rounded so it can almost come off with out moving the clip . Look at your extra arm. When a member showed me he did it with just his finger nail. Madflyer

Thanks! In the end, I did not have to manipulate the clip. I pulled them off with a pair of pliers using a polishing rag to protect them. The thing that was confusing me was that they seemed to move a little and then lock. Turns out that's due to play in the wheel box shaft. I'm not sure how big of an issue that is. Anyway, I did manage to get them off. Thanks again.
