TR4/4A TR4 trunk badge

Does anyone know when they added the TR4 trunk badge? My '61 does not have one and I see no evidence on the inside of the trunk lid that it had any holes previously. I read somewhere that early TR4's didn't have them but can't find the specific of what early means.

I have 2292 and I'm trying to build it correctly so don't want to drill holes that shouldn't be there.

thanks Dave

I have a photos of CT1332L and CT2338L, the latter has the TR4 badge, but it has been restored, so could have been added. If your boot lid does not have the holes, I would not add one.

Looking at my TR books a good guess would be the badge went on when the TR 4A came about. TR 4 were built between Aug 1961 and Jan. 1965 and TR 4A Jan. 1965 Aug. 1967 A good book to find on TR's ( TR for Triumph by Chris Harvey 1983. Madflyer

If you're suggesting that it wasn't on the TR4s until 1965, I disagree. There's plenty of photographic evidence showing that it was not on the first 2,000 cars or so, all built in 1961, but a TR4 badge was on cars after that.

Thanks I stand corrected So Twit car would have none and that solves that question. I just do not remember my 1962. Madflyer

ok, thanks for the input. I'm not putting a badge on mine.

I would add TR4 stickers, I heard during the '70s when the American Manufacturers put stickers on their cars it was good for an additional 50 horsepower :playful:
