TR4/4A tr4 / tr4a seat frames

had some grey sheepskin covers on my seats when I bought the car, I had already ordered new red with white piping covers from moss to recover the seats as they should be.
When I took the sheepskin covers off, the seats have a pattern not like the tr4 or tr4a design, Now I am worried that they could be tr4 seats all together, did all tr4 seats have a spring bottom and tr4a only have foam? I suppose this will help me figure it out as I don't have springs, so I hope someone at some point may have put in custom foam .

thanks

The 4 seats changed, Moss lists bottoms changing to foam with 20877. 4A seat backs are curved on the outside edge, I believe the 4 backs are more symmetrical.

Later TR4 seat were foam too, very similar to the 4A, though the seat pattern was different. TR250 seats were also different from either the 4 or 4A as well. Only spring versions of the TR4 were for the earlier years which still had the TR3 style seat.

And the backs of the late 4 seats are not symmetrical -- they sorta lean in.

Richard -- a photo of what you have would probably get a definitive answer.

Didn't see one of just the frame. Finished seat is the left.

I didn't post a photo because they are so misleading with the upholstery that someone had done, I am pretty sure they probably just went to a shop at some point and had them re cover the seats and put some generic foam in them, I might have to strip one of the cover and foam to really find out. I will check and see if it looks to lean in though, thats helpful.
thanks for all your posts.

Took another hard look this morning, I can not tell that they lean in, although is that partly a function of the foam? If someone went to a shop and had them put some random foam in and recover them ( not using correct kit or pattern) I am guessing its gonna be hard to tell until I strip to the bare frame.
Were the late TR4 and Tr4a seat frames the same?

I want to say in 65 the TR4 seats changed to the foam cushion type. My 65 has foam seats.

Think it was a bit earlier Marv - both my 64's had the later foam style.
