Howdy All, I have a 63 Tr4 that hasn't had a top on it since i got it. It has a top frame but i noticed on ebay a top frame for a 64 with "header clamps". My top frame ends about 12 to 15 inches from the windshield. Do i need this frame with Header clamps if i ever get a top or is what i have right? Thanks Steve

What you have is correct. If/when you order a top you may also need to obtain the stiffening bars (2 short & 1 long) that slip into pockets along the front edge of the top. These allow the front edge to be secured by 'just' tucking into that channel you have along the top lip of the windscreen frame.

May be a fussy fit the first few times until you and the new top get used to it.

If the cloth frame webbing is old you may want to replace them. Mine looked fine until I actually used them, then first one then the other broke. Some have used lawn chair webbing or seat belt material but TRF has the correct stuff in nearly the original colors (most sources only have black).

The best webbing is seat belt material. It takes some extra time but is worth the effort. Do the rear holes first, take a small nail ,heat it, and snell a small hole in the belt for the screws.Next do the front bar(all sticks up in position!!)the belt should be firmly tight on both sides. Then finish up the holes in the middle bars by slideing the belt so you can see where to snell the next hole.
On the tr4 once the front steel strips are in the top you gently tap them under the top moulding so they are seated, the strech the top to the rear and locate where the snaps need to go for proper fit. do this with the frame in the relaxed position so that when you bring it up the top is tight(but not tooo tight)
Dont open up a cold one till this job is done, beer and vinyl dont mix!!!
