Hi
I am installing the carbs on my TR4, and I would appreciate it if someone could post a couple of photos of the throttle shaft in the fully open(pedal to the floor) and idle position. My shaft appears to strike the bulkhead on the passenger side in the foot to the floor position. I and I am wondering if I need to re-drill the shaft, which I don't particularly want to do.

Thanks
Alan

Sorry I don't have a photo handy. But there are lots of places where it can be adjusted without redrilling. The link from the bulkhead to the bellcrank is adjustable, so is the link from the bell crank to the front carb. If you have the earlier SU carb setup, then the lever on the throttle shaft can be adjusted too.

But first, I'd check out the pivot in the bellcrank for excessive wear. I just finished rebuilding mine a few weeks ago, and it made a big difference. I was able to pull over 1/4" of adjustment out of the long link after rebushing the pivot.

PS, also check the link ends and balls for wear. On one of my previous TR3As, they were worn so badly that they would sometimes pop apart while driving.
