TR4/4A TR4 Steering Wheel

Bill, as you can see by getting no response, you have asked for the Holy Grail of used parts on a TR4-4A. All have cracks by everyone using the wheel to brace themselves getting in and out of the car. You can have them dipped and they come out pretty good. I think I saw a place in Hemmings that does it.
I have one I fixed for a friend and he is humming and hawing about the price, let me see what he says and I will get back to you.
You might want to ask what one is worth with no cracks. Not cheep. I have one with cracks if that is the way you want to go.

I'm looking for the original. Cracks acceptable as long as it's functional. Been down this road with the Healey - I know they are precious.
I saw one advertised on the forum last year for $350-$400. It was described as "only a few very small cracks.
Am I in the ballpark? If they go much steeper than that, I'll move to aftermarket.

I know they crack, but I don't think they are that rare in decent shape. I wouldn't pay more than say $50-$75. But then again that is based on ebay type bidding where there is some risk involved.

Bill,
I have one that I might consider trading for an after market wood rimed with boss.

In 1965 my sister wanted to drive my 1964 TR4. She was a little on the short side and pulled on the wheel when she tried to push down the clutch. That little person pulled the rim completely off the spokes.
I decided then and there that I would never trust one of those spoked wheels again and promptly bought a new wood wheel.
