TR4/4A Tr4 Spin-on Oil filter Problem

The large seal on my spin-on oil filter adapter (the seal between the adapter and the engine) blew today as I was running my engine. Has anyone else had this happen? I thought that I would just run the stock filter until I realized that I didn't have all the pieces to my stock filter and many of them are N/A.

Oil pressure (on my newly rebuilt guage was running 70 pounds.

Nope, I'll bet that if you dig deep into the O-ring recess in the oil filter housing you will find one of those square section O-rings that are used with the original housing. Don't feel bad they are really easy to miss unless you know they are there. Use a mirror and a good light and look up into the groove, you should see shiny aluminum, if you see black stuff, that is the old O-ring. You can use a sharp tool like a small screwdriver to take it out. Just be careful you don't damage the sealing surface. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
