A couple of years ago I bought a job-lot of parts that included an almost complete TR4 engine. The seller was a new LBC owner who bought a fully restored TR4A with many duplicate parts that were left over at the end. He got dis-heartened with our hobby and quit when his "concours" car caught fire and became an insurance write-off 3 days after he got it.
The old engine was in the job-lot and it had been dis-assembled, presumably for inspection and it seems like the decision had been made to rebuild another unit.
I bought the engine sight unseen as I planned to rebuild it no matter what. This morning I finally got around to looking at what sort of condition it is in. Frankly it looks better than my original, which I had taken a chance on by putting in some new bearing shells and rings and fired up on spec. This may put a curse on that, but it has run with good oil pressure and normal temps for the last 2 years.
For this one, I will also take the liners out and have been reading up on the best way to do that. They appear to have very minimal wear, as do the pistons.
Finally to the question. I am thinking of "warming up" this engine; nothing drastic, but I would appreciate comments on balancing, cams, etc. etc. The block number is CT62???E, if that makes any difference.
