i need relieve myself of one project (black plated Tr4) that has sat for 28 years, sad to say but i will not be able to keep it, i want to finish the Tr6 but the funds are just not there right now. the engine is not original and it has no top, body rust is minimal, but it has a couple pieces of metal welded into the frame from a front accident. I tore down the engine in the car after i got it running because of low compression so it is not assembled.

Do you think this would be better to part out or sell whole with the pink slip? I just need a push in the right direction!!!
also what would be the best media to sell on, BCF, craigslist, ebay, etc..

Just depends on how fast you want to pull out of it - most times the parts are unfortunately worth more than the whole car, but it takes a while to sell them. If you still have the overdrive, that's a pretty easy sell, fenders will go easy too if they are in decent shape.

Project cars are very hard to sell and never command their true value. An easy way to make some money is to buy other people's projects and parts collections, sell off the choice pieces, and then relist what's left as a project for sale. Done this many times with MGBs and older BMWs, unfortunately I never have the will power to do that with the TR8s. Every one I drag home ends up getting a full resto.

Me too Todd.

Not sure fenders are an easy sale right now. I have a bunch of 4 & 6 fenders that people only want to pay $200 for even though they ate straight and solid. No way they are going anywhere for that.

Post a bunch of pictures here and we'll be able to make better recommendations.

I'd urge you to sell it in one piece. Easy on you. Easy on the car. Good for an energetic and eager TR enthusiast. Good for the Marque.

I'd go EBAY and sell that Black Plate!

I kind of have to agree with KVH. I've done a bunch of part selling on Ebay and while you can do real well (sometimes) shipping is a constant hassle, particularly on the large sheet metal parts.
Good luck on whichever way you decide to go.
