TR4/4A TR4 Parts hunt saga

Piece by piece my TR4 is coming together. My biggest frustration has been dealing with people (Triumphsonly) and a seller from the VTR classifieds who say one thing and then after waiting and waiting, tell me another.

First, I'm looking for a complete inner and outer steering column for my TR4. I have the steering rack, but that it! After locating a seller on the VTR classified boards who said he had everything, I paid, but now (two month) later he says most of the steering coulmn is not all usable. So I contacted Triumphsonly (in Stockton, CA) and was quoated a price. I called hoping to drive down and pick up the parts last Thursday, but now he doesn't answer the phone and hasn't e-mailed me back! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Anyway I'm still looking for that complete inner and outer, upper and lower, steering column and an emergency had brake for my 62 TR4 if anyone has a lead please let me know.

I think I dealt with the same VTR source recently. Bad emails, very long delivery time, and in the end the parts were lousy. PM me for details if curious as I don't want to flog him publicly.

For these kind of parts I still think ebay will be one of your most promising areas. It may be worth cross-checking part numbers, but I thought the TR4 and TR6 columns were the same. You can get those pretty easily all time on ebay (there's an upper column going for the whopping price of 0.99$ right now..).

Emergency brakes also show up quite frequently.

Try calling Wayne at Triumphs Only again. He's always been fair with me. Lately he's been really busy, so keep calling.
I call about ten times a day until I get through and sometimes he doesn't check his emails for a week.
