Hopefully I have the TO bearing ordeal behind me. Got the box buttoned up and most everything else sorted. I was wondering what the object pictured does? It was mounted on a long bolt off the tail end of the TR4 overdrive box that I pulled from the car. Do I really need it in my TR3?

antivibration weight. You don't have to use it but they thought it made a smoother driving car in the TR4. I am pretty sure you will find that it is rubber.

The outer part is cast iron. There should be a thin rubber sleeve between it and the tube in the center. IIRC it was only installed on a fairly narrow range of cars, so certainly not essential. All the rubber was gone from mine, so I never bothered installing it.
