Can the "zero" clearance problem between the fan extension hub and the steering rack be cured with thicker, better, new motor mounts?

It would make servicing the engine easier, as well as changing fan belts. Alternatively, I could add spacer below the existing ones.

What about the stuff on the outside of the timing cover. The stock cover had a sound deadener sprayed onto it. Isn't there a product on the market that would double for that? It may be a nice touch.

thx

I don't know about the mounts on a TR4, but my engine is no noisier with the timing cover chrome plated and the sound deadener removed.

Actually, I've never heard anyone complain of any noises after taking that stuff off to paint or plate a cover.

I would think that you can cure the fan belt with a thicker mount, or shimmed mount if needed. My TR4 does not have a clearance problem, but it's about as close as can be to get the belt on.
