On E-bay there is a long runner intake manifold for a TR4 for sale. Does anyone know if this will fit a TR3 without having to do any modifications? It should fit the head ok; I was more worried about clearing the hood and fenders.
Is there enough performance gain to even mess with it?
Thoughts?

Hi Bill:

I don't know for sure, but keep in mind that when Triumph went to this manifold on the TR4, they also changed the carbs as well. The carbs changed from the SU H6 to either SU HS6 or ZS 175CD carbs. Both the HS6 (S for "short") and ZS carbs are shorter than the H6 carbs your TR3 came with.

I don't have it handy, but I think Roger Williams "How to Improve TR2-TR4A" may address this question.

Good luck.

Matt

Although I didn't realize it until much later, I had one of these intakes on my TR3A years ago. Combined with the SU H6 carbs, it worked fine.
