After a good drive out yesterday to the Fort Washington, PA show (excellent day) I was all ready to re-torque the head bolts today, when I realized that "old timers" has kicked in and I can't remember if this should be done with a hot or cold engine. I did a search, but couldn't find anything on this, although I am sure that it will have been covered before. A general internet search revealed advice for doing it both ways on a number of car makes.

My employer always did them cold, when a rebuild came in for its post break-in checkup. Don't think the manual specifies.

The TR3 handbook specifies retorque hot; the TR4 handbook doesn't specify.
From that, I infer that it doesn't make a whole lot of difference (but hot might be better).
