TR4/4A TR4 Breather Pipe

My TR3B has a slightly later TR4 engine: CT39529E. There is a breather pipe between the Valve cover and the flame trap which is then connected to the air cleaners. On a recent drive, this pipe must have fallen off as I had not yet replaced the old and dried out hoses that connected this together. Moss has the hoses but not the breather pipe. TRF has none of the parts. I was wondering if it makes more sense to plug the pipe out of the valve cover and plug the flame trap, or to eventually plan to get different air cleaners and valve cover and just forget about this early emissions solution.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have seen where the pipe/hose assembly was replaced with a single long hose. Doesn't look bad and functions same as the pipe.

My guess also would be a short 1/2" copper pipe, painted black would look right - I can get you exact dimensions if you want to recreate it.

But to just make it functional, I agree just a rubber hose would work fine. I would not plug it - as anemic as it is it may be helping you to keep a few drops of oil from coming out your engine by reducing crankcase pressure.

If you plug this pipe, get ready for the mother of all oil leaks!!The best way is to add a pcv valve in line with the breather pipe. This will keep the crankcase from building up pressure.

Sorry for the delay Dave. The pipe is indeed 1/2" diameter - and 9" long exactly. Mine was thin wall steel, didnt' get a thickness but I think copper pipe is close.
