TR4/4A TR4 Body Number Plate Supplier

Does someone have a supplier for a TR Body Number Plate? This is not the commission plate, near the wiper motor, but the one on the right hand side of the firewall that has a stamped number on it only.

I order one form Clark Spares (who I have used in the past) called and said the person who made the plates passed away and no one else knows how to do it.

Sorry to respond off topic, but how do I explain to the local DMV Registration office why there are two tag numbers under the hood? I realize one is the commission and the other is for the body, but can you elaborate on why Moss and all other registry sites address solely the commission number on the wiper motor side?
 
I've never had the AZ MVD challenge the use of the commission number for registration. I think or assume that the separate and different tag for the body was just so Mulliners could keep track of their builds.

As for the registries, most production changes were implemented and documented using commission numbers so those are most useful when ordering parts or judging correctness.
 
AZ DMV !@#$ Years ago I bought a new (1987) Dodge Shadow From AAFES, while serving in Germany, upon returning to states (AZ) & trying to register auto in AZ it seems their Computer system did not "recognize" the MFR serial # for a car sold overseas (export #). Someone did not program their system with all the correct possible veh. serial numbers. After much hassle I was finally able to register the Dodge. My parents bought a new "Wide Body" Ford motorhome from an AZ dealer & then was told by AZ DMV that it was illegal in AZ & couldn't be drove. Again, after much hassle involving dealership, MFR and DMV, it was determined to be LEGAL & was finally licensed. Now local DMV has removed all the chairs from waiting area forcing older or disabled people to stand for long waits. Used to get # and wait to be called to window.
 
One option is just to leave the body-number plate off. It has no legal significance and can cause confusion as to the VIN number.

I've occasionally heard of cars being registered under the body number instead of the (correct) commission number. Then, removing it would be a problem, but in the absence of such special cases, you don't really need it. Of course, keep the number in your records, just in case.

Unfortunately I don’t think these are available anymore. All the suppliers show them as NLA. And the topic comes up in forums periodically - without resolution.

IMO a homemade tag might be the most “authentic”. Or get someone to laser-cut the metal, then stamp it yourself.
