TR4/4A TR4/4A Gas Line Whitworth Questions

The gas line fittings at the tank and the fuel pump are Whitworth, close to 1/2 20 American fine, or approximately that.

But I can't find those Whitworth fittings anywhere. In addition, the 5/16 British steel line is smaller than American 5/16. The wall is thinner. All in all, the line measures about .003 thinner, and the Whitworth line nut is actually about .005 wider on the outside diameter than an American 1/2 20 fine.

It appears, however, that I can just substitute with a 1/2 20 fine line nut, 5/16 American steel line, and a 5/16 ferrel for the compression fitting. I'm told the seal is all in the ferrel and that the other differences (i.e., between the 1/2 20 fine and the Whitworth counterpart) are immaterial.

Is that right? Help, please. I want to get it back on the road.
