By that time, I'll be on the 13th or 14th tee, so I actually may be downwind of your scream. I'll try to keep that in mind as I set up over the ball.

Heck, I even heard Dale singing from Puerto Rico one day, when Crypty was flooding and threatening to go up in flames.
 
So I started the bearing replacement this morning and removed the carb linkage and return spring. I found only one mills pin in the throttle shaft connecting bush closest to the gas pedal. Anybody know how far away the pins are from each other? There are suppose to be two and I only found one so far. I'm thinking the thing is so polished it's embedded as one piece to the connecting bush. Anyway here's a picture of the bush on the (left) gas pedal side with one pin out. Meanwhile Mr. PB blaster is just soaking away at it all so no time lost. Even with the one pin out the shaft is as one. I must have spent two hours just stare-in' at this thing looking for any tell tale signs of the other pin. The book shows both pins in the larger diameter section of the connecting bush but I'm thinking it's closer to the pedal and the bush is worn down? I have cleaned the thing to bare steel and tried smudging it up to show something. If no one knows where it is I'll try the dye technique next followed by a hack saw. Just kidding!

Yes Dale, I am taking lots of pictures for future TR3 throttle shaft .PDF file of how too do, or not do depending on where I go from here.

It looks like two on the pedal side: one through the bar and looks like the other one is through the pedal; maybe this one is inside the car.

On the other side, just one through the lever assembly.

The parts manual was written for the TR2 and it might have changed for the TR3 and not updated. The shape of part no. 17 in the book doesn't match your picture. So look in the footwell or maybe even remove the lever assembly pin on the passenger side and try to pull the rest out from inside the footwell?

On second look, the pin HAS to be hidden by the nylon bush - see the diameter of the accel pedal rod is smaller than the part with the pin? It might have even been redrilled 90 degrees out because of a break in its lifetime.

That's about where I think the second pin is too. I have the other side off already but this side has no where to go unless I can find and remove that second pin to release the gas pedal assy. I agree that connecting bush does not look like the one in the manual. It looks shorter on the fat end. I thought the pedal end of the connecting bush was some how worn or ground down. I can push that bearing over and I can see the entire connecting bush (item 17) just don't see the pin even with the 3x cheater glasses and a magnifying glass on it. That's why I was wondering if anyone knew about how far a part the pins actually are. Oh well tomorrow's another day.
