TR2/3/3A TR3A Steering Control Head Harness

Anyone here ever build a replacement control head harness? Tips? If so how easy was it to do, what wire sizes did you use, and did wrap it and if so with what?

Thanks

I just bought one instead, they're readily available from the usual suspects.

One problem I see is that the tiny ring terminals that go inside the control head are "specials", they have a locating tab that sticks into a hole in the Bakelite to keep the terminal from turning and perhaps shorting out.

I've searched two of the suppliers and haven't found the item. Did you have to ask for it specifically?
No, I just ordered it the way I always do: Look up the factory part number in the factory parts book, then order that number from TRF. Web site says it's still available: UNTITLED.jpg
Moss shows in stock, too.

If you don't have a factory parts manual, I suggest you get one. TRF will sell you a paper copy, or you can download a PDF from

(I just added some bookmarks, circles and arrows ... to be used as evidence against us.)

I recall that the new harness that came with my new head had an orderly twist in the wires to facilitate twisting the harness down the tube.

Yeah, the wire size is critical, as is the thickness of the wrapping. This is just one of those parts I wouldn't personally consider doing myself unless it wasn't available otherwise. Moss shows it for $38...which is higher than it used to be. I found mine on ebay for $22 and it's cloth wrapped. I could not build for that price.
