TR2/3/3A TR3A question

Hello group!

I recently got me a 1960 TR3A to mate up with my 75/TR6.

The dash organization looks a bit different - the speedometer is on the right side (more to the center) and the tach is placed on the left.
Looking at pictures from other cars I can not find a real "standard" - some have it this way, some have the speedo on the left (which I actually prefer).

Question - how was the placement of speedo and tach originally?

Thanks a bunch,
Joerg

Yes, and the bottom line with a TR3 is: if it works the way it is, don't change it! How such simple things turn out to be difficult (and expensive when something breaks doing something seemingly harmless and simple,) just always amazes me on the 3.

Thanks Mickey for pointing me to the thread!

I must have overread it when I browsed through the forum that I just found recently.

BTW - like your signature line ;>

Sam,

I have to do pretty much the same you did recently (didn't you?) - spray can paint the engine compartment while the engine is in the shop ...

And while doing that I have to clean up anyway and move things around.

Besides - this poor TR3 was soooo molested by the previous owner that I am really glad it found a good (hopefully) home in my stable.

Thanks again for the replies guys!

This may be mentioned in the old post linked by Mickey, but in a nutshell check the dash rail under the speedo and the tack... there will be a small hole for the trip odometer reset rod under the proper speedometer location. I believe that Triumph may have reversed the location at some point in production, but am not sure if that is correct or it was done by individual owners.. It is true that you see these two instruments reversed so often on the TR3. Hope this helps.

Changing the tach and speedo around is a simple task. I did it with mine.
