Last Night I got the tunnel cover out, drive shaft bolts loose to the point they are only finger tight. I was going to go ahead and pull them but heard that they should be marked. I don't think I need to do this as I'm putting in a Toyota 5 speed with a new flange... I also removed the bolts from the Trans mount, removed the shifter, speed cable, clutch slave and linkage, the front bumper and grill and 5 of the six bolts on the left side of the apron.

I took good digital pictures of the front wiring before disconnecting it.

Tonight I plan to get the apron ready to take off and drain the raditor.

Question, do I need to drain the engine or trans as it would be a lot easier on the lift???

Saturday afternoon I should have all this out and be in cleanup mode...
 
Wooo, why are you removeing the front apron. The Transmission comes out from the inside.

In addition to the Trans I'm putting in a new engine...So I plan to pull it as a package...

You will probably find it easier to pull the engine after you have removed the transmission. Pulling the engine with the tranny attached requires certain manipulations of the fabric of space and time. It can be done, but its so much easier to do them seperatly.

When we pulled mine, it was as a engine/tranny unit. Its much heavier and it took 3 people and an engine hoist to do it.

And we had removed the front apron.
 
What Glenn said about pulling the engine and transmission togather is true. You need to pull the transmission first and then the engine. Haveing done what you are doing last winter, it is the way to go.
