I need to order a chrome front bumper post 60k.Reading past posts it seems there is a difference in the ends in the way that they curve to fit around front fender. Are the Moss,TRf and ebay Jorge chrome bumpers all the same shape? any quality differences in gauge or plating quality? Not interested in SS.Thanks Tom

If you have the original bumper, have it rechromed. The quality of the after market ones are not the best. A good chrome shop can make a twisted bumper look brand new. For about the same price as the aftermarket ones.

I'm struggling with the same decision: rechrome the old or go to Jorge (Angleheartpancho?) in California. I've purchased his front and rear overriders for the current TR3 restoration, and his gas tanks for the last TR3 and the previous MGA. Everything I've gotten is top quality. Still on the fence. Pat

I agree with Dan about repairing an original if you have one. Mine was bent in a V the wrong direction. You would never know it now other than a few hammer marks on the inside. I don't know about the quality of the repros.

We don't need no stinkin' bumpers... :driving:

What about the Harington SS bumpers?

I am more familiar with them for TR6's and those that have purchased them have been quite happy. I know of one TR3 owner that purchased on and they were quite happy with the fit...only thing they complained about is that the fasteners were Metric (I think)

Hi There TFB,

I agree with all here. If you can repair, re-chrome etc the Orig. bumpers; By all means do so cause you`ll be happier. I`m not sure if your "Wallet" will be happier.

Speaking with others who bought "Repos"; They all have similar comments; "The guage thickness is like paper mache".

One gent told me that he could flex the "Front Over-riders" by simply hand squessing the sides together!!

Best Wishes,

Russ

I bought from Jorge. Same guage and quality as original bumper and chrome was good. This is the second set I have bought and been happy both times. The bumpers were never designed to be bumped anyway.

Looks like I will try to hold off a few weeks and maybe an original can be found or else Jorge's seem to be my next choice. The SS that I have seen, maybe a different manufacturer, seem to look different in the sun compared to chrome. Also I have to wonder why SS would need the advertised 3 layers of aluminum paint on the backside. Thanks for all the replies and info.Tom

Hello,

I'm about to replace my TR3A front bumper and all overriders, and am interested on all current experience with these items sold by Jorge. He seems to get better comments in the TR community than the MG guys are posting.

Regards,

Walter

Still looking for a original, but may order from Jorge if I cant find one by registration time.My only direct experience was I did buy my gas tank from him with a phone call and credit card and he deducted ebay fees from starting bid price.Happy with tank.
I would consider a set suitable to rechrome if I can find one.

Walter,
As I said in an earlier post, I bought my TR3 front and rear over-riders from Jorge but decided to have an old original bumper re-chromed. On my other TR3 I had the original over-riders and the bumper re-chromed but I didn't have an unmolested set of over-riders for the current TR3. I'm happy with the final product on both cars. BTW, my cost to repair/re-chrome is less than half the cost of a repro bumper. I should add that I have purchased a number of items from Jorge and have been happy with everything.
Good luck. Pat

My TR3A wears a front bumper from Jorge that has been in use now for 13 years. Satisfied when I got it and it still looks fine (though I am in a mostly dry climate).
