TR2/3/3A TR3A - Front Apron/Bonnet Prop-Assembly Logistics

In the photo shown below, can the assembly shown,(plunger, spring, bracket and other bits)be attached to the apron/cross brace <span style="font-weight: bold">AFTER</span> the apron is in place? We are not sure of the attachment details because the parts manual does not illustrate this later arrangement. Only the early TR2 is shown.

It uses two of the long apron mounting bolts. You'll have to remove the two bolts and re-install them with the latch assembly.

So, I guess the short answer, is yes...you can install it after the apron.

I just put the apron back on last weekend so I feel your pain! I put the hood latch assembly on after the apron. I think the only other way would be to attach it only with the small sheet metal screws that hold the little braces to the bottom of the cross-braces, then run the long bolts through the apron/cross-brace after the apron is put on. That seems complicated.

The real b*tch is compressing the spring into the assembly. I shot parts of it into the middle of the neighbor's back yard while doing that. Wheee!
 
I normally just leave it attached when I remove the apron, so it can clearly be installed ahead of time as well.
