I have the stock type exhaust and when installing an A type overdrive I noticed the OD hit the exhaust pipe. Tried to move it but could not get any clearance. Is there a specific type for the A type overdrive?

Has anyone tried the Monza Pacesetter exhaust on their TR3?
 
The factory exhaust should clear the A-type no problem. There's even kind of a kink in it to go around the OD. Mine clears even with the OD back about 3/8" from where it should be (because of the TR6 gearbox).

But that doesn't mean that all replacements will fit.
 
What about the Monza exhaust... good bad???

Local shop wanted more to repair mine then I paid for it. The Monza looks like it might be a nicer exhaust.

I put in a new stainless steel system in 1990. All three pieces, the curved pipe down and back from the manifold as well as the silencer and the resonator (the small one at the rear) were all stainless. I had only a bit of a problem where the angle in the pipes between the 1st and the 2nd mufflers was not angled quite enough.

Never had a problem near the overdrive.

It's still like new after 18 summers of driving (98,000 miles). Before this, I only got about 15,000 miles and 3 years from every mild steel exhaust system that I used to buy from the S-T or British Leyland dealers between 1961 through 1969.
 
Get a stainless system if:
1) You usually take short rides that don't give enough time to heat up and cook the condensation out of the exhaust.
2) You plan on keeping the car.

Mild steel will eventually rot out and you'll have to buy it again and it will cost more money than today, given.

I've always heard that Monza/Pacesetter (same company I think) is a bit loud and doesn't last as long as stock systems and SS. I have a Falcon SS (no OD though) and it fit well and sounds pretty good, about stock (which sounded good too.)
 
I have the stainless from TRF... fit was no problemo. Later I added an A-Type OD and it was close but there was clearance.
