TR2/3/3A TR3A engine - who has the best 87mm piston set

Looking to replace my cylinders and pistons. The car currently has 87mm pistons. When I restored the car the engine was locked up and I had to soak and bump the pistons. I decided to put them back into the engine but with the intent of replacing them this winter (sorry to say the word winter)
I have never replaced the cylinders in a TR3 engine so I'll have more questions for the guru's.
Let me know who you guys think is the best deal and quality piston kit. When I mean kit I mean pistons, sleeves, rings, and wrist pins.

The problem with that approach is that, by the time you know it was a good set, the same set is no longer available.

Best set I ever got was from Warshawski's in Chicago; but they quit carrying them decades ago. Cheap, too. We got them for $80 because they had been returned; grading letters didn't match. Boo hoo, 2 pistons that were .0002" undersize. Modern pistons aren't that close to begin with !

Mahle 87mm set. Can get them from TRF, but you will pay. Close to a grand.

I bought a set from JC Whitney and they were great. Weren't they the same place but the store fronts were on opposite streets or something like that? Yes it was decades, several of them I think. Come to think of it it might have been someone older that bought them and just told me about it! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Last year I got them from TRF on sale for about $680. WOW...how prices surge.

Thanks for the information. Will check the sources listed.

Art, I got a few quotes on rack and pinion steering. Went from $1250 to $1600. Then I contacted a guy in the UK whom I met threw a guy in MA. and he will ship one for $1060.00. The price depends on how greedy the sales person wants to be.

Same place, JCW is the mail order side of the business. Warshawski's was the original name, and the name on the store front.

Don't know if it's still that way or not; haven't been back there in a long time.

Has to do with the value of the US dollar against the Euro (Mahle are German). That said, the value of the US$ hit its lowest point this week in 25 years against the Pound Sterling.
Anything from across the pond is gonna cost you more.
