Pulled mine out of storage today, part of my storage overhaul. I noticed some surface rust on a part of the driving disk. Should I ignore it with the thought that the first time I use it, it will self clean or should I go ahead and buff it up eith some real fine steel wool?

As usual your thoughts will be appreciated!

Thanks, Tinkerman

My first thought is to remove the rust, as you say - with steel wool, or with sandpaper. Yes it would be removed on the first few clutching actions, but I don't think I'd want the rust to become embedded in the surface of the lining.

While it's apart, it's easy to remove. I wouldn't want to risk leaving it on.

Certainly can't hurt to buff it off as Don says.

But I've put them on rusty and never noticed any particular ill problems.
