TR2/3/3A TR3A Cloth vs. PVC Wire Harness

Hello,

On my rebuild, am grappling with a new wire harness decision. Correctness dictates using a cloth covered harness in my 59 TR (TS52910L), however am wondering if the PVC version will be more durable (cloth potentially getting ratty and deteriorating quicker). I know the cloth (which I think should be solid black, not with the yellow on black pattern as I have seen in some) would look better as well.

Would appreciate your experiences in this regard. Thanks.

Regards,

Walter

I don't like the look of the PVC. Looks cheap to me so I always buy the cloth. I had our last TR3A for 15 years and the harness still looked good. Most of us don't drive them daily or out in bad weather on purpose, so it will last.

That would be two for the cloth. I agree with Jerry!!

Personally, I think the cloth is more durable. I restored my car after 50 years, and the cloth was nasty, but still fully intact. Plastic gets brittle with sunlight and heat...both in plenty supply with a convertible. I thought of the PVC option as just a way to save a few cents...

Thank you all, gentlemen. Cloth it is! I very much appreciate your input.

Regards,

Walter
