TR2/3/3A TR3A Centre Windscreen Attachment Bracket

Does anyone have any experience with installing the Centre Windscreen Attachment Bracket (the one that fixes with the rear view mirror)
With the windscreen attached the deflection on my car would be about one inch that the windscreen would have to be pushed forward, this seems rather a lot to me & I'm a litle concerned about cracking the windscreen doing this.
One Idea that I did have was to detach the windscreen from one side, fit the centre bracket and then flex the windscreen back into position!
Any other ideas?

One inch?! That's way too much, IMO, something is wrong. On all of my cars, the deflection has been essentially zero. That "attachment bracket" is really just a buffer to reduce vibration. I agree, flexing the glass that much is bound to break it eventually even if not instantly.

Or 14 in this one

Yes, I do have the rubber buffer. Does anyone know whether the windscreen glass should be perfectly flat or slightly contoured?

It is slightly curved. Come to think of it, the curve probably does amount to about 1 inch in the center

good morning I'm from italy giangi. too on my tr3 '60 I have a similar problem.
the windshield touches the stem of the central rearview mirror and leaves no room for mounting the bracket in gomma.come can I do to overcome the problem? thanks to those who will want to 'give me a contribution to solve the problem:joyous::joyous:
