TR2/3/3A TR3A Brake rotors

I have a definite intermittent squeak from the right front. Intermittent as the wheel turns. Am sure its the brake because it goes away when slight brake pressure is applied. From reading past posts it would seem the rotor is warped and rubbing against the puck as the wheel turns. The solution to this would be either have the rotor turned or replaced. If I replace the rotor, should I replace both or just the one causing the squeak? Have no idea the age or thickness of either rotor at this time.
 
They never run absolutely true, so I would measure runout before doing anything else. If its below about .002" (with the bearings snugged up), then concentrate on the squeak rather than runout.

You'll want to be able to check runout on the new one anyway. Often it's necessary to change how it's mounted to the hub, so the rotor high spot matches the hub low spot, to get the lowest overall runout.

I lean towards replacement, on the theory that if it has started to warp, machining will just make it warp faster. But check the thickness for a definite answer. ISTR minimum thickness (after turning) is only .060" less than new thickness (.500"), which isn't much.

But, new rotors are suspect too. I got out a pair a few years ago that I thought were a good deal when I bought them, and eventually wound up scrapping them because they were so badly out of balance. Drilling to correct the balance made them warp.
 
I've never had a problem with turned rotors. The only problem I've had with turning them is that most don't come with enough meat to do it.
