Hello,

Recently discovered that the ashtray which was on my TR at time of purchase 1992, is in fact an original. Being a non-smoker an taking into account that it looked like a cheap aftermarket addition (the Bakelite face was gone and a knob was in its place), I took it off at the time and put it in the spare parts box. I must have tossed the bracket but the ashtray surfaced the other day. Since I am restoring the car now after 15 years in storage, I compared my tray to Forum and Ebay pictures and it is the real thing.

Does anyone have a stray original bracket with no tray that they can part with?

Regards,

Walter

Walter,
I see them occasionally on ebay for sale. I have even seen some reproduction face plates lately.

Hello again Charlie! Yes, I know...Just bought one of those face plates.

Walter;

I can't believe that you threw the bracket away. The tray shows up every now and then on eBay and the faceplate is reproduced but the bracket is the part that was stamped from a sheet of unobtainium!!!!

#@%$&^*!, and that's all I got to say about that.

Joe,

I agree with all of your expletives and kick myself constantly...still hoping it might show up in some dusty corner....!

Regards,

Walter

Nah, I'm just messing with you.

If Marv can't help, you can make one easy enough out of sheet metal with tin snips and a bench vise. It's hidden under the dash, so no one will ever be the wiser.

Happy hunting,

Joe
