TR2/3/3A TR3 Wiring sub-harnesses

I have four NOS or new wiring sub-harnesses, rhey are:

1. Tail light

2. starter

3. wiper motor

4. voltage regulator

Bought these on ebay and very carefully made id labels for them so I wouldn't have identification problems two years down the road. Well the two years down the road are just about up and the id labels vanished into thin air. :-(

Soooo, I have photographed them with numbers and I was hoping some of you could look at them and tell me which is what.

Thanks a bunch for your help.

Only problem is, on a TR3 none of those things takes a sub-harness. Everything but the starter connects directly to the main harness, and the starter just has a single heavy cable to the solenoid mounted on the firewall (which in turn has a heavy cable to the battery and two wires into the main harness).

#2 looks like it might be a generator harness, tho it looks kind of long. (Ok, I guess that could be called a voltage regulator harness, but it only includes 2 of the 6 or 7 wires to the VR.)

#4 seems like the only one long enough for tail lights, tho I've no idea what that purple wire would be (stock TR3 had no purple wires).

Or, #3 might be a tail harness for a later car with snap-in bulb holders. But the only holder like that on a TR3 is the high beam indicator in the speedo, and it should have a blue/white wire.

Sorry I'm not much help.

Aloha,

Here are my guesses, but I would suggest you get a wiring diagram to be certain. Here is a link to get one:

https://www.advanceautowire.com/tr24a.pdf

Depending upon if you have a Lucar terminal voltage regulator number 1 would be associated with the generator (yellow and yellow/green wires), ignition (white) and power to ammeter or fuse box (brown)

Number 2 seems to be a generator harness between the dynamo and voltage regulator.

Number 3 has wiper motor wires (green and black) but also has dash panel lighting bits (red/white wires).

Number 4 appears to be for the rear portion of the car, signal lamps are green/red and green/white, tail lamps and plate lamp (red) and brake lamps green/purple.

When I installed a new wiring harness in my TR3A, the only sub harnesses were headlamps with bulb socket, front parking/signal lamps, and control head. Some of the dash panel lights needed to be connected with some additional wire. The rest of the harness was piece. Are you sure that these are for a TR3?

Harness #1 looks like an OD harness to me.
I was thinking that, but not for a TR3. My original TR3A OD harness only had a total of 3 wires and was shaped more like a 'T', with 2 of the 3 wires going to each end point (power from ammeter & starter switch; switch connections; relay connections)

Some time back I gave a fellow the rear clip from my broken in half original body. He and his wife came and got it and his wife asked me if I could use a wiring diagram. I said sure and forgot about it. About 3 weeks later I got a mailing tube from them, opened it up and inside was a 2' by 3' laminated wiring diagram for the TR3A/3B!
Dug it out this morning and SUPRISE, suprise, it has all kinds of interesting info!

After an intial look over I think I am, again, guilty of overenthusiastic ebay buying without doing my due diligence. I think my dear old departed Pappy would call it going off half cocked. blush blush.

Thanks to all of you for helping get me straight.
