TR2/3/3A tr3 wiper motor mounting

Does anyone know an easy way to get new grommets into the wiper motor base on a TR3? I got the mounting kit from Moss, but I have no idea how anyone can get the rubber grommets into the base. Thanks.

Two words: Silicone grease.

It's a miracle...

I've heard that some folks still can't do it even with the silicone grease, so they just cut the grommets, open up the "circle", then slide them on.

Not a miracle. But it works.

I've thought about slicing them open. I hate to do that, even thought I know it doesn't really make a difference. A couple more tries and the box cutter comes out.

Don't cut them. They will go in. Use some silicone spray, get one edge in and use your thumb, press hard, working all along the edge where you started it.

I just did mine, and contemplated cutting them, but now I'm glad I fought the battle to it's conclusion!

Along with the silicone, I dropped them in hot water for a couple of
minutes. Gave them just the extra flex that was needed.

WD40 worked like a charm for me. Catch one edge and rotate the grommet into the hole.

A new question on an old thread...

I'm in the process of mounting the wiper motor and bracket on my 59 TR-3A. I have what appears to be all of the hardware, but am missing the rubber grommets. Moss is out of stock on the mounting kits and is in the process of finding another source. I'll try TRF in the morning, but if they are not an option I'll see if I can come up with something on my own. Does anyone have a close up photo of the rubber piece? Is the kit designed to allow the motor to "float" a little rather then being firmly mounted?

Rick...

PS... I finally found the kit on TRF. I'll call them tomorrow. I was going to just delete this post but couldn't figure out how. Can it be done?
