I went to the Day of Triumph hosted by New England Triumphs triumph club yesterday at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, MA. Although the turnout wasn't what was expected due to the rain, there were still 42 cars there.

One thing most of the TR3's had (and my wife told me I needed to get) was wind wings. I searched online last night and the only ones I saw were rare NOS AMCO wings, at $329! I thought that was a little steep. Anyone else out there use wind wings, are they worth it and are there any other sources for them?

I got mine from Moss many years ago. They make a difference on the wind buffeting.

I have used a set from Moss for many years, generally just on fast road trips where the buffeting gets tiring. I also use a homemade door wing (copied from others I had seen) that really cuts down on that blast of air.

I'll speak for Shawn, they really do work. I've had a set on my TR2 forever and will likely never take them off.

Go for them Bill. New ones are reasonable enough.
 
Seems to me that the ones on the windshield really only help at lower speeds, below 50 mph or so. Above that, not so much.

I haven't tried the "door" version though, even though they seem to be pretty popular.

The AMCO ones were higher quality, IMO, particularly in the hinges. The Moss hinges tend to work loose, and break if you tighten them too much (to prevent them from working loose). They will also leave a gouge in the chrome unless you replace the set screws with brass-tipped ones.

I see TRF also has them listed, but probably the same ones Moss offers (and at a higher price). Might be worth investigating, though.
 
Well, if Momma is going to let me spend more money on my TR3, I'm game. Yesterday's car show was our first all Triumph show and she had a good time. She talked to a lot of other owners and they were telling her "you need this and you need that".....which she took it all in and later she asked me how much an overdrive transmission was.....keep talking to her guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a set from Moss and love them. They really look great and do a good job cutting wind down in the cockpit.

I also have a set of sun visors from Moss that do the same.

IMO both really make the car look better.

I also have a '32 Ford Roadster and am going to put the Moss wind wings and sun visors on her.

I have no connection in any way with Moss other than being a happy customer.

Welcome to the NET =) I dont think we talked, but I was wandering around in my "Got Scotch?" shirt taking lots of photos since my car isn't yet on the road.

It's too bad the rain kept so many people away, the turn out wasn't bad but it could have been so much better =)
