Hi TR3 Guys -- What is the consensus on sealing the water valve that mounts at the rear of the head on the topside? Thread tape, gasket sealer, or nothing at all?

Thanks!

That's a tapered pipe fitting. I used that teflon tape stuff and it doesn't leak. The tape is the least messy of all the alternatives. Of course, the the valve is brass and probably wouldn't leak if nothing was put on there.

Edit: Just for info purposes... How to wrap teflon tape.

I always seal it and use quite a bit (teflon tape in my case) as you have to stop tightening at a point where the outlet is pointing in the right direction (rather than just tightening until it is relly tight).

I mostly always seal every fitting because I have had some real fun when I didn't. Not had super luck with the teflon tape. Know how it's supposed to go on, but just seem to have lousy results, so it's pipe dope for me. One thing about it is that you can clean it up after tightning it. Once it hardens, forget about it though.
