Is there a kit to rebuild the TR3 water pump. It seems to be an easy assembly but I can't find a source for the seals.

thanks

Vicky Brit lists the rear seal only p/n 18-115. No front seal or bearings are available from the usual sources.

I bought seals etc, locally from a shop that sells bearings and seals. My neighbour who has a lathe turned a new shaft for me out of stainless steel to match the diameters of the new seals and bearings I bought. After it was assembled, I mounted it and it's been on my TR3A for 16 years (94,000 miles) with no leaks etc. The usual cause for the pump to leak is that the original mild steel shaft gets rusty in contact with the water or coolant and then the rust flakes off leaving the grit to ruin the seal. Also the water can leak out because the rusty pump shaft is no longer round.

Yvan, I have it off at the moment if you want to look at it. Let me know. I also have all the sketches on file.

Much easier to buy a new one and the new ones now come with the zerk fitting. Worth the experiment though.

Don's rebuild was done when the replacements didn't have the zerk (very recently added) and many had issues with pulley interference.

There has recently been a guy on eBay selling rebuilt original pumps (zerk, etc) with possibly modified innards. He wants an old one as a core exchange else you pay for the lack of a core. Not cheap either way but perhaps even better than the repro with the zerk (which is what I got from that guy in Idaho).
