TR2/3/3A TR3 tachometer

Hi,

I am looking for someone with a TR3 tachometer in poor cosmetic shape with the mechanical stuff working to replace mine which is in just the opposite condition. Very nice cosmetic condition but non working mechanical. I know I could
get one on Ebay but I would rather support a BCF member if possible

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee

I have one you can have for the shipping cost. The back is very rusty, but the bezel, dial and convex glass look O.K.

Looks like you have this covered, but it got me thinking... seems like one could fit a speedo's innards to a tach face and have a working tach. Minor (set the needle) calibration would be needed but you'll do that anyway even if replacing the insides with a donor tach.

Very true. Apart from the odometer bits and the calibration the Smiths/Jaeger mechanical tachometer and speedometer are virtually identical. If you're really enthusiastic you can also transplant an electronic movement behind the mechanical face and eliminate the need for the mechanical drive cable.
