TR3 Starter Solenoid Test...Out of vehicle??

I have a starter solenoid kicking around that I would like to test but its not where the car is...car is in storage.Probably a dumb question but can you test a starter solenoid off a battery. What wires to where?

Re: TR3 Starter Solenoid Test...Out of vehicle??

Hard to get a really thorough test, because of the current it has to handle. But you can do a basic test easily : Connect a source of 12v (battery charger or what have you) between the case & the small side terminal (polarity not important), then check for continuity between the two large terminals.
