I'm finishing up the front suspension on the TR3. I've got the springs, shocks etc. in, and now I have to get the rebound rubber and bracket in. I DO NOT have the motor and trans, on he frame, and I don't have any heavy weight people hanging around except me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif Is there anyway to schnooker this thing in, or am I going to have to weight (pun intended) to have a party and have everyone sit on the frame while I jack up the A-Arm??

OK, I got it in. I put the lower bolt for the bracket in place. No problem there. I lowered the body shell onto the chassis, and noticed that if I pried up on the bracket, I could start to see the upper hole. Just aliitle bit more. Well, I had momma come out and stand on the front edge of the frame...no, I don't know how much she weighs. I jacked the lower A-Arm 'til it was just rising off the jackstands, pried up on the bracket to squish the rebound rubber, and verschnookered in the top bolt. Whew...time for a Sierra Nevada. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif

Good thing you didn't thank mamma about her weight when she was holding the frame down - there isn't much room for your fingers around that bracket if she decided to stop helping!

Glad you were able to get it done. For any one else in this situation, what I did when in the same situation (but the body tub and engine were off the car) was to use a large plastic gabage can placed on the frame which I filled with water to give me the weight I needed. Then to remove the weight I just syphoned out the water. Saved me finding all the weight, killing my back moving it and also the inevitable dropping of it on my toe!

Wow, great idea with the garbage can and water. What's that, about 30-40 gallons at about 8 lbs. per gallon. That weighs more then me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Plus you get brownie points for cleaning the garbage can /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif
