TR2/3/3A TR3 rear overider distance from body?

What is the correct distance that the rear overiders are supposed to be from the body of the car? My 3 has the top of the chrome overider about an inch from the car body. I'm not overly concerned with this as my car is very far from a concourse car but I saw an otherwise mint TR3 the other day that had the overiders about 3" from the body and it just didn't look right!

I don't have the overiders on, but to the top of the bracket is roughly 2" with the overider mounted I'd say between 1" - 2" is about right. Lots of those brkts got bent which would make them closer, not farther away. 3" seems a little much, but maybe someone with a concourse car with chime in. I'd say most important is that they are even on each side.

Not at home this week, but I'd guess at about 1.5 -2 inches from memory. Will send/ post pics when I get home if still needed. Cheers, Mike
