TR2/3/3A TR3 Rear Bumper Overriders - Upside Down?

Seems like a simple question - but here goes - which one of these 2 are correct and which one is upside down? Note the height of the bumper at the top of the over rider spring. From the back, the drivers side looks right to me, but from the side, the passenger side. Thanks in advance,

#1 is the correct position. Very nice red Luke

That's what I thought too Dan. But it's not a particularly good fit at the bottom - seems very tight against the spring.

Luke,

I am no expert, but it seems like your bumpers stick out from the bodywork a little too far. Might want to look at shortening the distance tube to bring the tops of the bumpers in a little.

Cheers,
David

Well, I did double check that, and according to this thread they are the right length. I'm guessing it's the camera angle. If I were to shorten the tube it would bring the spring just above the distance tube too close to the body.

I think level in line with the bottom of the bodywork looks correct to me....

Just my 2 cents

Hi JP - that's what I went with - it's also consistent with Dan's comment above.

My first guess (wrong) was that the #2 orientation was correct, but looking at the collection of images on Google it's clear the top of the override is above the level of the tire compartment seam. Anyway, the S.T. parts book shows pn700913 as fitted with the end having a greater space above the bolt hole being up. The spacing out from the body is not as obvious. I think (again looking at multiple photos of other people's cars) there is an air gap straight across that puts the overide top farther out than the line of the beehive lights on a 3a. There are photos posted of closer fits, but probabley a matter of parkinglot adjustment

Here's a shot of my non-parking lot adjusted bumperette, Passenger side:

These are TRF bumperettes circa 2004, still holding up well.....

How about a rusty original?

Luke -- Yours look great and now that you know which way is up you might think about shortening the bolts (see pics of other examples).

Apart from appearance that looks like a good place to scrape your skin while washing and waxing.

Funny you should say that. I woke up this morning with exactly that thought in my mind. One issue we all deal with in restoroing these lbc's is the quality of the aftermarket parts - why the vendor missed so bad on this is beyond me....
